This article from Lexington provides another example of TIF's failing to deliver. The article mentions and references how TIF projects need to be large dollar projects. That is because our current laws require them to be big projects. Do not be fooled in thinking the problems with TIF's can be solved by making the dollar threshold smaller. This will only increase the number of projects doomed to failure on the backs of taxpayers.
In Northern Kentucky we can look to the Manhattan Harbor and Ovation projects as failing TIF's. Let's quit while we are ahead and get out of the business of crony capitalism. If you hear elected officials talking about TIF's tell them to STOP and let the free markets work.
