Residents of Independence need to to attend and learn about the forced taking of private property for green space within your city. Attend this meeting and learn that your SD1 taxes are paying for over $400,000 towards those lovely trees in the aptly named I75 Rain Forest. Did you know that cost overruns on the project will likely result in you paying for another $200,000 towards those lovely trees? Of course you and other federal tax payers are already paying the other $400,000 towards those lovely trees. Yep, that is over a million dollars! SD1 says this project will "significantly improve the aesthetic value of this open space," yep I really feel better now.
Did you know that SD1's "watershed plan" is reportedly not being looked upon favorably by the US EPA? Did you know that SD1 is talking about billions of more dollars and additional litigation becasue EPA is not happy? Yep the EPA and SD1has no intention of stopping until they get 3% of your adjusted income.
